Blizzard has made some slight changes regarding changing your BattleTag on Battle.net. Similar to the way Xbox Live tackles ID changes, users can now change their BattleTag as often as they see fit, but the catch here is that unlike Steam, Uplay or Origin, changing your username will set you back a rather hefty 10 bucks.
“Whether you’ve outgrown your BattleTag or you’ve decided it’s simply time for a change, you can update your BattleTag with just a few clicks,” Blizzard mentions, reassuring users that your Friend List will remain intact if you decide to rename yourself on their gaming platform.
Do take note than changing your Battle.net BattleTag for the first time is still free of charge. No major benefits come with changing your username, so paying $10 each time you’d like to change your name is completely optional.
However, if you created your account back in 2007 and you’re still called something like “Xx_warcraftboss1992_xX”, the entire gaming community would kindly like to request you utilize the privilege of changing your username for free as soon as you physically can. Gamers across the globe and your own self image sincerely thank you in advance.
