Bungie Details Destiny 2’s Seasonal Challenges and Weapon Changes For Next Season

Bungie revealed several changes to the challenge system and weapon balance in Destiny 2 with the upcoming Season 13 in the studio’s weekly blog post.

Starting with the new season, the weekly bounties given by various vendors will be replaced by Seasonal Challenges. These challenges can be found in either the quest log or season pass menus where players will receive between three to 10 challenges each week for the first 10 weeks of the season.

The Seasonal Challenges last until the end of the season, and can only be completed once per account. The new challenges reward with XP, Bright Dust, seasonal currency, or “other interesting items.”

The challenges range from completing specific objectives in various game modes to increasing Power and improving weapons. Some challenges will revolve around seasonal events, and therefore must be completed before the event ends.

Bungie noted that some challenges will require the season pass to complete, but over half of the challenges can still be completed without it.

“Challenges that focus on the Seasonal activity and ritual mostly need the Season Pass to complete, but most of the ritual focused Challenges can be completed without the Season Pass,” Bungie wrote. “Overall, roughly 60% of the Seasonal Challenges do not require the Season Pass.”

The other big change coming to Destiny 2 in Season 13 is weapon balancing between PC and consoles. With cross-platform play slated for sometime in 2021, the studio focused on the disparity of handling between a controller and mouse and keyboard.

For PC players, the recoil on auto rifles, scout rifles, pulse rifles, submachine guns, hand cannons, and machine guns will be adjusted much closer to the console counterparts from 40% to 20% difference.

Although machine guns, pulse rifles, and submachine guns will have reduced camera movement when firing, or less recoil, across all platforms.

Other weapons changes include increased rocket launcher damage, reduced sword damage, increased ADS flinch for snipers when hit, and more.

Destiny 2 Season 13 begins on Feb. 9, but the Bungie said it will be releasing a trailer for the new season next week on Tuesday, Feb. 2.
