How to Control Different Party Members in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Torna
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was the first big original JRPG on Nintendo Switch, and since its release in December 2017 the game has received a number of changes and content add-ons. The biggest add-on yet is finally here, however, with Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Torna – The Golden Age, a brand new story chapter that takes place 500 years before the original game. Torna follows the story of Jin and Lora, as they join up with Addam and Mythra in the fight against the Malos, the Aegis who’s gone wild and is destroying the world. While the base combat of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Torna is the same, there are some meaningful changes made to separate it from the base game. Of course, you can also control different party members and choose which one you want to play as. Each one has a different role in combat, so we’ll detail how to swap your character.
For the first bit of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Torna you’ll have to play as Lora and Jin. Addam and Mythra will join you later on, but it’s not until Hugo, Brighid, and Aegaeon join that you’ll be able to swap characters and control party members in that way. Once you’ve hit that point, though, there are a couple different ways to do it. You can open up the main menu then go to characters and press X to swap the order of your party. The team in slot 1 will be the one you control. Alternatively, while you’re out exploring you can simply hit the left trigger (L2) to swap which team you’re controlling. After that hitting up or down on the D-Pad will determine whether you’re controlling the human or blade in the team, and hitting left on the D-Pad will swap out which blade starts the battle.
Each team has a different role in combat in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Torna. Hugo’s is all about drawing aggro and defending, Addam’s is about causing huge damage and combos, and Lora’s is focused on side/back attacks and healing. Make sure to try each one out and see which you prefer, and control your party members effectively.
That’s pretty much everything you need to know about how to control party members in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Torna.
