How to Unlock and Equip Star Cards in Star Wars Battlefront 2

Recommended Videos

Star Cards, the upgrade system of sorts from the first Star Wars Battlefront, make a return in Battlefront 2. However, the way you use and equip them has been changed quite a bit. Now each and every unit, starfighter, hero, and vehicle in the game has their own set of Star Cards that all work independently of what you have equipped on others. The card system in Battlefront 2 can be a little confusing to understand, so we’ll help guide you through the process as much as we can.

To equip Star Cards you can either go to Collection on the main menu, or do it while selecting a class to play as during a match. Once you’ve gone to Collection or the class menu, simply select whichever character or vehicle you want to edit the cards for. You’ll see three different slots pop up, with only one unlocked at the moment. This means you have three slots to equip Star Cards on everything in Star Wars Battlefront 2. If you select the open slot and hit X it’ll open up a menu that displays all of the Star Cards for that unit, some of which alter your stats in battle, while others can give you new weapons or abilities to use, or enhance the ones you currently have.

You can get Star Cards in two different ways. The first is by getting them randomly in Battlefront 2’s loot crates that you can purchase with credits. To purchase Star Cards directly you’re going to need scrap, as each card will cost 40 of the resource to craft. Scrap can be gained through loot crates, or by completing the various challenges found in the game, or ones give through weekly/daily challenges and events. When you have the required scrap simply highlight a card and hit X (or A) to purchase it, then again to equip it.

You’ll probably notice, however, that some cards can’t be purchase until you’ve hit a certain overall rank and a certain Star Card rank. Your overall rank goes up by earning experience from playing in the various multiplayer modes. Star Card rank, on the other hand, actually goes up when you purchase Star Cards. The trick however is that each unit in the game has their own Star Card rank, so it doesn’t compile into one number. This means that you’ll have to go through and purchase or get cards in loot boxes, before you can go through and get everything for any given class, hero, etc. It’s a system that might feel a bit weird at first, but purchase a card or two and you’ll see your Star Card rank go up.

It’s definitely going to take some work to unlock a huge amount of Star Cards, so you’ll probably want to prioritize the classes or heroes you use the most.
