Shin Megami Tensei V: How to Get Magatsuhi

Developed by Atlus, Shin Megami Tensei V is the latest entry in the popular turn-based JRPG series. Like previous games in the franchise, players will take control of a young male protagonist and go on a journey in modern-day Tokyo. Except instead of it being the Tokyo we’re all familiar with today, this version of the city has been ravaged by a war between angels and demons. Anyway, here’s how to get Magatsuhi in Shin Megami Tensei V.

Getting Magatsuhi in Shin Megami Tensei V

If you’re just coming off of the Nocturne remaster that was released earlier this year, the Magatsuhi system works a little differently in SMT V. Whereas in Nocturne you would have the Demi-fiend ingest different types of Magatsuhi to gain different skills and affinities, in SMT V it’s represented by a red gauge in the top right corner of the screen.

By filling up the gauge, the Nahobino and all controlled demons will be able to use a Magatsuhi skill to help turn things in your favor during a battle. For instance, one of the first Magatsuhi skills you learn turns all your attacks into guaranteed critical hits, allowing you to make good use of the Press Turn system and gain four extra turns.

To fill up the gauge, you’ll need to pick up the small red orbs you see scattered around the levels. These are a bit rarer than the green health orbs but are still pretty easy to find so make sure to pick them up as you see them.

While in combat, the Magatsuhi gauge also fills a little at the end of the player’s turn, so the longer a battle is, the more likely it is you’ll be able to max out the gauge and use your skill.

Finally, you can also increase the gauge refill rate even further by unlocking Miracles at the World of Shadows. While I recommend using your Glory to unlock other more useful Miracles like increasing your demon stock and improving the stats and bonuses of fused demons, if you have the Glory to spare, you can go for the Magatsuhi Miracles as well.

These will allow you to charge the gauge faster through actions like scoring critical hits, blocking, or even having a party member get KO’d. With all these Miracles stacked together, you’ll be able to fill the gauge extremely quickly in battle.

That’s all you need to know about how to get Magatsuhi in Shin Megami Tensei V. Be sure to search for Twinfinite for more tips and information on the game.
