Resident Evil Village is the latest entry in Capcom’s popular survival horror franchise, but this game marks a pretty significant departure from its predecessors in that you’re no longer dealing with regular zombies or undead. Instead, now you’ve got werewolves and vampires, and they’re just as aggressive as you might expect. Here’s how to survive the first werewolf attack in Resident Evil Village.
Not long after you’ve gotten your first gun in the game, Resident Evil Village quickly throws you straight into an intense combat encounter that requires you to survive a devastating werewolf attack. This occurs once you’ve entered the barn with the stairs leading up to the second floor.
It’s not exactly clear how long you have to survive or what objectives you have to fulfill before the game allows you to progress, but we’ll give you a quick rundown of what we did to trigger the next cutscene.
Surviving the Werewolf Attack in Resident Evil Village
From the barn, first we dispatched the werewolves that wormed their way inside, and made sure to also barricade the front door with the bookshelf. By barricading the door, you’ll be able to buy yourself some time to shoot the werewolves outside the window, and also take some shots at the one trying to bust the door down.
Once you exit the barn, you’ll be able to explore houses on both sides of the stream, and we recommend that you do, as there are quite a lot of resources to pick up. Before too long, a large werewolf with a hammer will spawn, and we recommend that you avoid it as best as you can. This shouldn’t be too difficult, as it doesn’t seem to actively chase you like the other werewolves do. Make use of the flour bags to create cover as well, so that you can make a quick escape if needed.
Before long, fire arrows will start raining down on you, and once the werewolves do enough damage to get Ethan’s health into the red, a cutscene will play and the werewolves will leave you alone.
It’s pretty likely that all you have to do is let the werewolves damage you enough to get the cutscene to trigger, but it’s definitely worth your time to take a few of them out as well, as they’ll drop Lei, which will come in useful pretty soon.
