Always Think About Talisman

Tips and Tricks for Beginners for Pyre

Pyre

While things can seem pretty straightforward at the start of Pyre, the challenge slowly ramps up as you progress through the game. As such, Talisman become more and more important, so make sure that you’re keeping up to date on these at all times.

This doesn’t just mean buying and equipping new ones, but also upgrading your best existing ones. Using Stardust to upgrade your Talisman can make them way, way more powerful than they start out. On top of that, you’ll also want to try and complete the Scribe Challenges in the Beyonder Crystal. Each one grants you a powerful Talisman for that specific character. Upgrade these and you’ll have a serious advantage when it comes to the Rites in Pyre.

Flinging Is Key

Tips and Tricks for Beginners for Pyre

While sending one of your exiles hurtling into your adversaries’ pyre will deal more damage than flinging the Orb, you’ll be put at an immediate disadvantage when the action kicks back off. The character that leaped into the flame will be banished until either pyre is doused once again.

Rather than simply sprinting into the flames like a crazy person, try and perfect flinging the Celestial Orb into your opponents’ flame. Not only will you deal damage, albeit a little less than the regular method, but you’ll also have your full team ready and raring to go when the action restarts. Trust us, you’ll have way more success when you get into the habit of flinging rather than simply sprinting into the fire.

Balance Your Team

Pyre, feats of glory

All of the different exiles that join the band of Nightwings will have their own different stats and abilities at your disposal. Whether it’s Jodariel’s slow but dominating presence, or Rukey’s fast, weaker one, you’ll want to try and get a perfect balance when it comes to creating your team.

We actually found that having one or two fast team members with one stronger teammate worked quite well. You can speed down the sides with your fast characters, drawing your opposition out of the way of the pyre, before sending it over to the stronger teammate to deal the most damage.

Complete Scribe Trials

As we’ve already mentioned, the Beyonder Crystal grants you the ability to complete Scribe Trials with one particular character. These are 1 vs. 3 battles which will test your proficiency with these exiles, but they’re more than worth it for the reward you get.

Upon completing a Scribe Trial, you’ll get a powerful Talisman that only that character can use. Spend as much as you can upgrading these Talisman with Stardust and you’ll have exiles whose strengths become a dominant force on the Rites battlefield. Plus, if you can take on three opponents with one character, it’ll definitely help during those crunch moments in Rites.

Think About Who You Liberate

Tips and Tricks for Beginners for Pyre

Pyre

This one is a bit of a spoiler, so turn back now if you want to avoid all spoilers. While you discover at the start of your adventure that you’ll be helping this band of exiles regain their freedom in the Commonwealth, it’s unclear whether or not you’ll succeed. Well, this all comes down to whether or not you win or lose in Liberation Rites. Win, and an exile of your choice can return to the Commonwealth. Fail, and a member of the opposition will take the opportunity instead.

Who you liberate becomes a pretty big deal, though. You can only liberate particular exiles who have reached a certain level, meaning you’re more often than not forced into relinquishing one of your favorite characters. However, in liberating them, you’ll basically be ruling them out of your squad for the rest of the game.

As such, we recommend trying to level up your team as evenly as possible. If you use the same team over and over, you’ll likely have to let go of those three first. Mix things up a bit and, with a bit of luck, you’ll be able to at least keep one or two of your favorites until the very end.
