One thing that you should definitely know before starting is that Pokemon Masters is centralized around the combat aspect of the series.

If you are more invested in the collecting aspects that shone in Pokemon Go, then this may not be your exact cup of tea.

However, collecting does form part of the game, as you will find out as you scroll down this list…

You Need Space to Download it

It’s quite a hefty download size; around 1.2gb of storage is required after the initial download of the game.

Make sure you’re smartphone or tablet device is prepared for this, so you can get to battling as fast as possible!

You’re Collecting Trainers, not Pokemon

A big difference between Pokemon Masters and other Pokemon titles is that you are collecting trainers instead of Pokemon, which you partner up with to form effective teams.

No longer do you have to ‘catch em all’-now it’s all about finding the best teammates to guarantee your success on the battlefield.

Trainers are given a star rating depending on their rarity-and a good rating means they’re more than likely to be a helpful asset.

Pokemon Typing is a bit Different

The typing of some Pokemon is more simplified in a few cases. For example, Houndoom has been simplified to a singular typing, and is now just dark type.

So, don’t go thinking you can chuck a bubble-beam towards the dastardly dog, it won’t be as effective this time! Plan your moves carefully according to the enemy’s typing, whatever it ends up being.

This is presumably to make the battles less complicated and so you can decipher and respond to weaknesses faster.

You Can Unlock Sync Pairs Through the Store as Well as in the Story

Sync pairs are the trainer-Pokemon pairs that accompany you in your battles, consisting of a powerful trainer and their signature Pokemon. Remember, fights are 3v3, so it’s crucial you scout two amazing sync pairs.

If you don’t mind coughing up a few bucks for the odd micro-transaction, then you can unlock more sync pairs by going to Tricia’s desk, and selecting the ‘sync pair scout’ option in her store.

There is currently a launch special event going on, guaranteeing you a five star sync pair in a batch of 10, costing 3000 gems.

Be sure to check out the Pokemon Master’s wiki that we’ve devised to help you out as you progress through the game.

We have all the info you will need to get started, plus interesting guides such as how to evolve your Pokemon, and how to get more sync pairs.
