Pokemon Go: All Trade Evolutions

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Pokemon is a franchise all about interaction with others. Ever since the first generation, there have been mons who could only evolve after being traded. Finally, this feature is making its way into Pokemon Go and it will save you a ton of candies. Here’s everything you need to know about all of the trade evolutions in Pokemon Go.

All Trade Evolutions in Pokemon Go

Right now the list of all mons who can evolve through trading isn’t as long as it is in the mainline Pokemon games, but it’s a good start. What’s even better is the discount you get from trading.

That means the Pokemon being traded won’t evolve instantly like they do in the main games. Instead, it will just discount the amount of candy you need in order to evolve the creature.

The biggest example at the moment is Karrablast being able to evolve into Escavalier. Normally it would take 200 candies to evolve Karrablast, but trading makes it so much easier by changing the cost of evolution to zero candies.

Also, any Pokemon that can now get a candy discount and was traded before the feature was added to the game will still get this perk. Make sure you dig through your box to see if you have any free evolutions just sitting there.

Now that you’re familiar with how the system works, here’s a list of all the Pokemon who get a candy discount through trading:

  • Kadabra
  • Machoke
  • Graveler
  • Alolan Graveler
  • Haunter
  • Boldore
  • Gurdurr
  • Karrablast
  • Shelmet

It’s a small list, but it’s a good start to a feature that will encourage more trainers to play Pokemon Go together.
