How to Turn on Fast Mode in Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
In Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire, you’ll need to do lots and lots of walking around. There’s some light fast traveling available between areas of a city once you discover it, but you still need to manually get yourself around for the most part. This is done because time, and time of day is an important factor in PoE 2, especially when traveling the seas. Your crew is paid wages and consume resources as time goes on, so you don’t want to dilly dally too much.
That said, in order to not go crazy waiting around for your characters to slowly walk/sail everywhere you need to go, you can turn on fast mode. Fast mode, like its name would suggest, speeds everything up a lot. Instead of leisurely strolls through the city, your characters will pretty much be sprinting around.
To turn on fast mode in Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire, simply either press F or if you prefer or forget that short cut, click the Fast Forward button on the bottom middle of the screen near the Pause button. And in case it wasn’t obvious, do the same thing to toggle it off.
There are a couple of important things to keep in mind about Fast Mode in PoE 2. Most importantly, it speeds everything up, and that includes the passage of time and combat. So if you need to take it easy to make sure mistakes aren’t made in combat, or that time isn’t progressing too quickly while you’re looking around for something, keep fast mode off. It is great though when you know exactly where you’re going and just want to get there quicker, such as exploring town or the world map. So definitely feel free to use it in these scenarios where you’re just waiting around anyway.
That does it for how to turn on fast mode in Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire. Best of luck out there!
