As much as you’d like your tools, weapons and armor to last forever and stay relevant, sadly the test of time will get the better of them all. The durability of your gear will eventually break, and you may also find that you’re carrying around weapons and armor that are too underpowered for where you are in the game. As such, you’ll want to make use of New World’s Salvage option, allowing you to break down old items in order to help you repair others. Here’s everything you need to know on how to salvage items in New World.
Salvaging Items in New World
To salvage an item you no longer need, simply hover over the item in your Inventory (opened by pressing ‘Tab’) and then select the ‘Salvage’ option from the menu that appears.
Alternatively, you can hold ‘S’ and left-click with your mouse and then press ‘E’ to confirm.
This will remove the item from your inventory, but you’ll get a few handy items for doing so.
What You Get from Salvaged Items
When you salvage an item in New World, you’ll get a small amount of Repair material and a bit of Gold. The amount you’ll get from salvaging an item is shown when you hover over the ‘Salvage’ option.
Gold can obviously be used to purchase things, while Repair Material is used for… well, repairing other items.
Repairing Items
To repair any item, simply select it from your inventory and then choose the ‘Repair’ option that appears. The lower the durability of an item, the more Gold it will cost. The cost of Repair Materials will always remain the same regardless of the level of durability.
