The mystery of Moonglow Bay’s story ramps up throughout the game, and at one point you’ll be tasked with finding your way past an enormous gate that locks away an all-new area to fish and explore. Here’s how to open the Ocean Door in Moonglow Bay.
How to Open the Ocean Door in Moonglow Bay
Sailing directly east from Moonglow Bay you’ll come across a large locked door that barricades the fishing areas beyond. It forms a key part of the town’s history and the main storyline of the game, and you won’t be able to progress until you have found a way past it.
First, you’ll have to find the key that actually opens the door, which is part of a questline that is unlocked once you have repaired the library. From there, it’s a case of heading northeast to the Open Chill area of the map and fishing it off one of the icebergs floating about. You can see its location above.
That’s the easy bit. But there’s more to opening the door than locating its whereabouts and finding the key. Unfortunately, the game doesn’t do a great job of highlighting exactly what you’re supposed to do. Well, despite you having the key in your hand and the lock seemingly being right in front of you, you actually don’t unlock the Ocean Door from the side that is facing you.
Instead, you’ll have to take your small dinghy and scoot around the back of it, and open it from the other side. This involves navigating small, fast-flowing rivers within the hot pool region of the map, which is just a bit north of the door itself.
You should have unlocked the dinghy as part of an earlier quest. To use it, simply walk out onto the deck of your fishing boat and toward its bow. You should see a prompt to launch your dinghy. From there, navigate into one of the small inlets and follow the maze of fast-flowing rivers until you have navigated around to the other side of the Ocean Door. You can then interact with it and open it.
That should be everything you need to know about how to open the Ocean Door in Moonglow Bay. For more useful tips and guides on the game, search Twinfinite.
