Monster Hunter World: What the Best Hammer Is

Best Hammer in Monster Hunter World

The Hammer is a fantastic choice for players who enjoy breaking monster parts in Monster Hunter World. Unlike the swords and blades, the Hammer deals blunt damage, which means that you should be able to knock off plenty of armored parts during your hunts. Whenever you’re out on a hunt with a party, make sure one of you has a Hammer equipped. It’s more useful than you might think.

Early on in the game, there isn’t really a “best” upgrade tree to go for. As with all the weapon types in the game, we recommend trying to get a Hammer for each tree, just so you have the elemental versatility to deal with different monsters. Our favorite upgrade tree, however, is definitely the Anjanath. The Anjanath upgrade tree provides you with great damage output, as well as the fire elemental attack. You’ll generally want to go for upgrade trees with better Blast damage so that you can stagger enemies more frequently and knock them down. Because of this, the Anjanath tree is a good one to go for when you’re in the mid-game content.

As for end game stuff, we’re a little torn between the Magda Floga tree and the Diablos tree. The Diablos Hammer has a terrible affinity, but it has the best damage output as far as we can tell. On the other hand, the Magda Floga tree provides less damage, but it has better Blast and affinity. If you’re not worried about raw damage output, the Magda Floga is the way to go, though you really can’t go wrong with either of these.
