Minecraft Dungeons Nether Portal: Everything We Know So Far

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Minecraft Dungeons is all about diving into various different levels and fighting your way through typical Minecraft biomes teeming with mobs as you try and put a stop to the evil Arch-Illager’s plans. Upon finishing the story, however, players will gain access to a number of other mysterious objects and areas. One of which is Minecraft Dungeons‘ Nether Portal. In this guide, we’ll talk you through everything we know so far.

Where to Find the Nether Portal in Minecraft Dungeons

First off, the Nether Portal can only be accessed upon beating the Arch-Illager at least once on the ‘Default’ difficulty. This involves completing all the main levels in the game.

After this, you’ll return to your Camp. From the map table, head in an easterly direction and just by your house, you should find some bounce pads you can hop on. Use these to bounce your way across the gap and follow the path.

Just at the end here, you’ll come across an arch of stone with an inner lining of obsidian blocks. This is Minecraft Dungeons’ Nether Portal, which you can see below.

What Does the Nether Portal Do?

Unfortunately, at the time of writing, the Nether Portal doesn’t actually do anything. When you walk up close to it, you’ll hear some ominous Nether-sounding noises. Other than that, the Nether Portal cannot be interacted with, and you cannot be taken to the Nether via it.

Will the Nether Portal Ever Do Something?

There’s a good chance it will do. We already know that Minecraft Dungeons is set to receive at least two pieces of DLC. With the Nether being such an iconic part of the Minecraft series, offering the hard endgame content in the normal block building game, it seems like the perfect place for players to test their dungeon crawling skills next.

Further, if you look closely in the top left-hand corner of the Nether Portal in our screenshot above, you can actually see it’s missing one block of Obsidian to complete it. This seems intentional and a further hint that we’ll be making our way there in the near future. Perhaps we’ll have to get a block of Obsidian as part of the DLC in order to open it up. Only time will tell.

As soon as we hear anything else about the Nether Portal in Minecraft Dungeons, we’ll be sure to update this post and let you know. For more on the game, be sure to search for Twinfinite or check out more of our coverage below.
