Humankind is a new 4X strategy game from Amplitude and Sega, and it definitely feels like the most worthy competitor we’ve seen for the Civilization series so far. The game introduces some interesting elements to help shake up the formula that Civ was built upon, and this helps to keep things fresh and exciting for the genre. Here’s how to get influence in Humankind.
Getting Influence in Humankind
Influence is one of the most important resources you’ll need to make use of in Humankind, and the method of getting it is different depending on which era you’re in. We’ll break them down below:
Neolithic Era
When you first start the game as an unnamed Neolithic tribe, you can gain influence simply by having your units walk over glowing points of interest or by attacking animals you see on the map, such as deer and mammoths. These will net you a bit of influence –just enough for you to set up your first outpost and establish a proper city there.
However, once you do that and start to enter the Ancient Era, just checking points of interest and attacking animals will no longer reward you with influence.
All Other Eras
From this point on, you’ll only be able to gain influence through your established cities. Each turn, you’ll gain a bit of influence for each of your cities, as indicated in the top right corner of the screen. The more prosperous and populous your city is, the more influence you’ll get from them.
You can increase your city cap by researching specific Technologies or enacting the Small Council Civic, and this will let you generate even more influence.
Influence points are used to transform outposts into proper cities, and they’re also required for enacting Civics, so you should definitely try to improve all of your cities together as much as possible.
That’s all you need to know about how to get influence in Humankind. Be sure to search for Twinfinite for more tips and information on the game.
