God of War is almost upon us, and it won’t be long before we’re traversing the snowy plains of Scandinavia and doing battle with all manner of weird and terrifying Norse Gods. For those who have preordered the game digitally, thankfully there will be an opportunity to preload it so it’s ready to be played as soon as the unlock time ticks over.

Preloading will be available starting April 18. God of War officially launches on Friday, April 20, and will unlock at 12 am EDT, which is a global unlock time.

That gives you two days to make sure you’ve downloaded the install file for God of War. This preload period should be enough time for all but the slowest of internet connections, but it doesn’t leave a whole lot of margin for error. To make certain you’re playing the game as soon as possible, be sure to stay on top of things and get the game on the download early.

That’s all you need to know about the unlock and preload times for God of War. For many more useful guides and tips on the game, be sure to check out our substantial wiki guide.
