How to Play Cross Platform in Fortnite Battle Royale
Update:Â Sony has today confirmed that PS4 and PC crossplay in Fortnite will be possible as of today, Sept. 26. The news was shared via a post on the PlayStation Blog, detailing that the cross-platform play in Fortnite begins as a beta, and will eventually be followed by other titles in the future.
Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode is taking over the world, with even global stars like Drake jumping online to play. Most of your friends are probably playing it, too. You might have the problem of you all being on different systems, however, so you may be wondering if you can set up cross play and how you would do so.
If you or your friends are on PC, you’re in luck. PC players can play with anyone on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Mobile with the flick of a switch. Simply head into the options menu and select the option that allows for cross play. The same goes for if you’re playing on one of those other platforms and you want to play with PC players.
If you and your friends are on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, though, you won’t be able to play vs. each other. There’s currently no cross play options between the two consoles, but don’t write the chances off. Since it’s seemingly so easy on other platforms, it’s likely just a case of flicking a Switch at Sony or Microsoft’s end to give the go ahead for Epic to allow it. Those two haven’t always played nice together, but it is certainly possible.
That’s all you need to know about cross platform play on Fortnite Battle Royale. For more on the game, be sure to search for Twinfinite.
