FIFA 17: What Is The Journey?

It's time to embark on a FIFA journey.
This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

FIFA 17 is releasing in a couple of weeks time and will bring with it a number of improvements and features. Powered by the Frostbite engine used in DICE’s military shooters, FIFA 17 will provide a more immersive and realistic soccer experience thanks to this physics-focused engine. With the usual suspects filling FIFA 17’s game modes, The Journey is also tucked in as one of the game’s other big new features. Here’s what you need to know about it.

The Journey sees players assume the role of Alex Hunter, a young up and coming star who is on a quest to make his mark in the Premier League. Just as the old ‘Be a Pro’ mode allowed you to control just one player on their quest to become the biggest and best player in the team, The Journey sees you solely controlling Hunter (or the rest of the team if you’d like) with the decisions you make both on and off the pitch directly affecting your future. Your prospects and relationships with your manager and players can be directly affected by what you say in post-match interviews, in the dressing room, or your tactical decisions out on the pitch.

Picking the wrong choice at certain critical decision points during your career can lead to your journey becoming far harder than it should be. Although, from what we played in the demo, it’s going to be hard to bite our tongue when your friend is a jerk.

FIFA 17 is coming to Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on September 29.
