Tip 2: Send in the PvP Specialists to Invade
Listen, invading in Destiny 2’s Gambit mode is fun and exciting, and everyone is going to want to try it at some point. But, the fact is, not everyone is good at it. Sure, go play around with it with some randoms, but if you’re trying to play Gambit for wins, your entire team should know ahead of time, who goes into the portal when it’s time to invade. Invading basically shifts Gambit from a PvE event, to a PvP one. The person that’s going in should be very familiar with what guns kill Guardians well, and how to time out their super.
There are exceptions, of course, if someone has a super ready and you need to get someone in there ASAP, like the other team is close to killing their boss, then sure abandon ship and get that person in there to give it a go. But in general, your team should have an idea of who is going to take on the bulk share of invasion opportunities. It should never be, first one to get to the portal gets to go in if your objective is to win.
Make sure whoever is going in has something that can kill the other team quick before they catch onto your position. You really should avoid something like peppering someone with an auto rifle from far away. It’s just going to alert the team to your location and numbers wise, once everyone is on to you, you’ll be at a disadvantage. Have something like a fusion rifle or a sword ready to go so you can lurk up to their location quietly and quickly dispatch them and get out in one piece. Survival is key in Gambit, so go and mess that up for them.
