While most of the game’s core elements have remained intact, the Demon’s Souls remake on PlayStation 5 isn’t without its share of new features. Combat is smoother, the character creation suite is more diverse and enemies are flush with new animations. With all this in mind, you may be curious if another feature has been added in, leading to the question: Is there romance in Demon’s Souls?
Well, after some experimentation, we’ve found the answer you’re looking for.
Is There Romance in Demon’s Souls? Answered
To put it plainly, no, there is no romance in the Demon’s Souls remake on PlayStation 5.
Like the original, the game is purely centered around your character battling undead and demonic horrors, increasing their Soul Level and finding a way to save the Kingdom of Boletaria from the fog consuming it. Most every NPC interaction is tied to these goals, and relationships with said NPCs are kept fairly superficial as a result.
It’s a bit of a bummer, but shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone who has played other Souls games. Romance options has never been available in any of them, and the closest one has ever gotten is the Anri side quest in Dark Souls 3; which, when all is said and done, is far from a romantic endeavor.
Will Romance Options Ever Be Added Into the Game?
As for whether romance options might be added into Demon’s Souls at a later time, the chances are almost certainly zero.
As stated above, romance has never been included in any Souls game before, either at launch or later down the line. As such, it’s highly unlikely the game’s developers FromSoftware would want it added into a remake of one of their older games.
Hopefully this cleared up whether or not there’s romance in Demon’s Souls. For more on the game, check out some of our other guides on topics like how to run faster and how to dodge roll.
