At the very beginning of your adventure, you’ll be faced with the Biomutant crossroads color decision. Here, you need to choose between ‘I’m Dark Red, as in strength and power‘ or ‘Color me Light Blue, for freedom and loyalty.’ But what does this choice at the crossroads actually mean? And which one should you actually pick?
Simply put, the choice isn’t very important. It won’t determine which path you take at the crossroads, but instead just gives you a few points in either the Light or Dark Aura. These Auras are essentially the game’s morality system.
Should You Pick Dark Red or Light Blue at the Crossroads in Biomutant?
If you want to be a ‘Good’ creature in the world, then you want to choose the ‘Color me Light Blue, for freedom and loyalty.’ If you want to be a ‘Bad’ creature in the world, you want to choose the ‘I’m Dark Red, as in strength and power.’
It’s worth noting that the choice you make here doesn’t lock you into that morality for the remainder of the game. Instead it just gives you +2 Aura points for either Light or Dark, depending on whether you pick Light Blue or Dark Red.
After making your choice at the Biomutant crossroads color decision, the two little Aura sprites will appear and have a bit of back and forth on morality and which of the two you should listen to.
Once they’ve finished talking, you can choose to take either path at the crossroads.
What Does Aura Affect?
Aura affects dialogue and the way certain characters you meet will look at you.
PSI-Mutations a.k.a. PSI-Powers (read: abilities) are also locked behind meeting certain Aura requirements. For example, to unlock the PSI-Power Sizzle, you need to have a Dark Aura of 10.
