HBO’s Game of Thrones has finally come to an end, but that doesn’t mean you can’t find other awesome TV shows to fall in love with as well.

Now it’s worth noting that the shows we’ve picked here aren’t necessarily part of the fantasy genre, but we’ve picked them for having amazing production quality and value like Game of Thrones have, along with other similar elements like strong character development and powerful stories.

Here are six other shows you should watch after finishing Game of Thrones.

Westworld

This is a no-brainer. Sure, it’s not a high fantasy series, it doesn’t have dragons, and it doesn’t have magic.

However, Westworld is to the sci-fi genre what Game of Thrones’ debut season was to fantasy. That is to say, Westworld is unquestionably the best and most engaging sci-fi TV series you can watch right now. It’s got fantastic production quality like Game of Thrones, thanks to its ridiculous budget, and it’s one of the most visually appealing series you’ll lay eyes on.

Westworld might not be packed with gut punch episodes where your favorite characters are dying every other week, but it does play around with the concept of death and androids in interesting ways, and that helps to push the sci-fi genre forward, which we rarely see in current mediums anymore.

Better Call Saul

In its earlier seasons, Game of Thrones was very focused on developing its characters and establishing a rich world full of history and lore. And then, all that character work went out the window in those last two or three seasons.

Better Call Saul couldn’t be any more different from Game of Thrones in terms of setting and plot, but if you’re looking for a good TV series that actually cares about character work and creating story arcs and plot lines that develop in a way that makes sense, this should be on your radar.

This is a show where the characters don’t need to say what they’re thinking; you can just read their motivations from what they do and the way the show is filmed. The cast is much smaller than Game of Thrones, but this gives Better Call Saul the chance to develop each of them properly. There are no bad guys here, just flawed people anyone can root for.

Frontier

Hey, it’s Khal Drogo, so that should be enough reason to watch, right?

Frontier stars Jason Momoa as its leading man, and the plot revolves around the North American fur trade in the 18th century. Momoa takes the role of Declan Harp, who attempts to break the monopoly of the Hudson’s Bay Company in the industry.

There’s corruption, there’s backstabbing, and there’s Khal Drogo. Need I say more?

Outlander

If you’re looking for a more straightforward historical fantasy setting, Outlander might be another good show to check out.

Outlander has an interesting premise, where a World War II nurse named Claire travels back in time to 18th century Scotland. If you were a fan of the way Game of Thrones empowered its female characters and allowed them to rise in prominence, you’ll be glad to know that Outlander is widely praised for its strong female lead as well.

Vikings

Probably the most similar show to Game of Thrones on this list, Vikings has all the elements you’re looking for in a fantasy series.

There are big ships, epic sword clashes, and ruthless territorial expansion. Vikings tells the story of Ragnar Lothbrok, as he tries to help his family expand its influence across the world.

Aside from just bloody action, there’s also a lot of political drama and intrigue to explore in the story. Its characters are well-rounded and fun to watch develop as well.

Succession

If you’re looking for more family drama, you can’t really go wrong with Succession.

Its corporate setting certainly sets it apart from Game of Thrones, but it’s definitely filled to the brim with lots of lying and backstabbing, and all-around drama to see who can seize power. It’s also wittier and funnier, and in some ways, the writing can actually be sharper at times.

The familial politics are fun to follow, and while there might not be any exciting action sequences to speak of, it’s the battle of words that’ll keep you hooked.

Be sure to search for Twinfinite for more Game of Thrones and entertainment-related content, such as a bunch of memes to help you come to terms with its end.
