Better Call Saul
In its earlier seasons, Game of Thrones was very focused on developing its characters and establishing a rich world full of history and lore. And then, all that character work went out the window in those last two or three seasons.
Better Call Saul couldn’t be any more different from Game of Thrones in terms of setting and plot, but if you’re looking for a good TV series that actually cares about character work and creating story arcs and plot lines that develop in a way that makes sense, this should be on your radar.
This is a show where the characters don’t need to say what they’re thinking; you can just read their motivations from what they do and the way the show is filmed. The cast is much smaller than Game of Thrones, but this gives Better Call Saul the chance to develop each of them properly. There are no bad guys here, just flawed people anyone can root for.
