Devil May Cry 5 (Release Date: March 8)
After more than a decade, the Devil May Cry series is finally set to receive a new mainline entry with Devil May Cry 5, and it looks to be a triumphant return to form.
Set several years after the events of Devil May Cry 4, the game sees Nero, Dante, and a mysterious devil hunter named V drawn to the demon-filled locale of Red Grave City.
Each is determined to stop the mysterious figure known as Urizen from using the chaos to increase his own power and become the king of the underworld. To that end, they’ll use their powers to tear through any enemies that stand in their way.
It’s about what players would expect from a Devil May Cry plot, but it’s a good enough set up for the usual hack and slash action; which, thanks to the game’s three different protagonists, looks more varied and diverse than ever before.
Slinging enemies around with Nero’s Devil Breaker, cutting through them with Dante’s myriad of weapons and setting demonic beasts on them with V all appear different enough that players will be hard pressed to find a better action fix.
Time will tell how good it ends up being, but given its early march release date, fans will be able to find out for themselves sooner rather than later.
