Madden NFL 20 – New PS4 Games (August 2019)

Another year brings another entry in the Madden franchise to PS4, and Madden NFL 20 once again iterates on the tried-and-true formula. There are a wealth of changes made to the game, starting small with an overhaul to player ratings and general gameplay feel.

One of the bigger changes, however, is Superstar and Superstar X Factor, which gives certain players incredibly useful abilities that can enhance their abilities on the field. Of course, plenty of popular and well-known features return once again, like Ultimate Team.

Instead of the story-based Longshot mode, Madden 20 now has Face of the Franchise, a new story mode that’s not quite as narrative intensive as the last couple years.

Once again, it seems like Madden 20 s bursting at the seams with content, and it should be another worthwhile entry on PS4 for any Football fan.

Oninaki – New PS4 Games (August 2019)

Oninaki comes from the minds at Tokyo RPG Factory, the developers behind two other PS4 RPGs, I Am Setsuna and Lost Sphear. This time, however, it’s a full-on action RPG, instead of using a turn-based system.

Oninaki takes place in a world where death is seen as an everyday occurrence, and reincarnation is a major staple of society. You play as Kagachi, a Watcher whose job it is to usher souls into the next life.

The game has an incredibly striking art style, and the combat system seems to get deeper further in the game, as you meet different Daemon characters that you can equip, thereby boosting your skills and abilities.

Tokyo RPG Factory has a pretty good track record so far, but Oninaki could be their first game that’s really exceptional.

RAD – New PS4 Games (August 2019)

RAD is the newest game from Double Fine, and it’s absolutely chock-full of 80s flair and nostalgia. RAD is an action rogue-like game that takes place in a neon-splashed post-apocalypse.

Playing as a stylish teenager, you have to journey into the nightmarish Fallow, a procedurally generated wasteland. While you’ll have plenty of weapons and tools to take down enemies, the big element of RAD are the different mutations you can get.

These mutations can completely change your body and the way you approach the game, like turning your head into a cobra that can quickly attack nearby enemies. There seem to be some pretty crazy combinations, and knowing Double Fine you can bet things are going to get weird quick.

If rogue-likes are your thing, RAD is definitely one PS4 game you’ll want to take notice of this August.

Control – New PS4 Games (August 2019)

Control is the latest game from Remedy, the makers of Max Payne and Alan Wake, and it doubles down on supernatural storytelling. The PS4 title casts you as Jesse Faden, an agent of the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), who’s responsible for housing and investigating items that can’t be explained through scientific means.

As Jesse arrives at the FBC storage facility, The Oldest House, she finds it under assault from a supernatural entity known as the Hiss. You’ll have to explore the Oldest House to figure out what’s going on, encountering a number of the items stored there in the process.

At its core, Control is most easily compared to a Metroidvania, as you’ll have to explore the facility and find new abilities that then let you open up even more of the facility. Combat in control is similar to Quantum Break, using a combination of telekinesis powers and gunplay.

Remedy is known for making incredibly unique games, and Control definitely seems like it’s right up that alley. It could be one of the biggest sleeper hits on PS4 this whole year.

The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan – New PS4 Games (August 2019)

Man of Medan is the first entry in The Dark Pictures, a new horror game anthology by Supermassive Games, the makers behind the cult classic Until Dawn. In fact, Man of Medan is heavily inspired by the PS4 exclusive Until Dawn, using the same gameplay style of exploration, quick-time events, and dialogue choices.

In Man of Medan a group of young Americans decides to vacation in the South Pacific Ocean. However, when a deadly storm hits the group finds themselves stuck in a sunken, haunted ghost ship, along with its captain.

During the story, you’ll control all five main characters, and depending on the choices you make certain characters will live and die. It’s even possible to have every single character die, or have everyone live.

Man of Medan looks incredibly atmospheric, and if they can use Until Dawn as a basis, Supermassive might just be able to make lightning strike twice.
