Tetris Effect
The Tetris Effect, also known as Tetris Syndrome, happens when someone spends so much time and attention on a singular activity that it begins to pattern their thoughts, mental images, and dreams. Ever played a game for so many hours in a day that you go to bed and still see it when you close your eyes? Yeah, that’s the basic idea, and it’s that idea that Tetsuya Mizuguchi, creator of Rez, wants to play within Tetris Effect.
Tetris Effect is a brand new way to experience Tetris, with a journey mode that takes on a visual and auditory journey while completing sequences of Tetris. Mizuguchi’s trademark design is alive and well in Tetris Effect, of course, if you want a standard game of Tetris the game has plenty of that too.
Tetris Effect looks like another ethereal adventure from the mind of Mizuguchi, and if you’ve ever enjoyed a game of Tetris, you should give it a chance.
Tetris Effect hits PS4 on Nov. 9.

Hitman 2
One of the biggest surprises of 2016 was the new Hitman, a game that created some fantastic sandbox environments for players to mess around in while hunting down targets. Just two years later we’re getting the follow-up to that game, promising even more options and flexibility to gameplay.
Hitman 2 will feature six different missions, all available at launch, including a racetrack in Miami, a suburb in Vermont, and a hunt for the local cartel in Colombia. Concussive gadgets are introduced to the game allowing you to render an NPC unconscious, and the briefcase makes its return to the series allowing you to stow and hide weapons.
The popular limited-time Elusive Targets will also return in Hitman 2, with the very first one being portrayed by British actor Sean Bean. Hitman 2 promises even more of what made the first game so great, and it should be on the radar of any stealth or sandbox fan out there.
Hitman 2 comes to PS4, Xbox One, and PC on Nov. 13.

Fallout 76
The Fallout games have been some of the biggest RPGs of the last generation, but things change up a bit for the newest entry, Fallout 76. Instead of a single-player RPG, Bethesda has gone for a shared-world multiplayer experience. Now with friends and other players, you can explore the post-apocalyptic scenery of West Virginia, a striking change in aesthetic for the series.
West Virginia is much brighter and more colorful than Washington D.C. or Boston, and a host of new mutated animals make their terrifying debut. Narratively, Fallout 76 is a prequel to the entire series taking place as humanity first makes their way out of Vault 76. The open world of Fallout 76 is four times larger than that of Fallout 4, and the base building mechanics make a return with quite a few improvements.
V.A.T.S. will still be in the game, although everything will play out in real time now. Other players take the place of NPCs in Fall0uot 76, with story mostly delivered through readable notes and audio logs. It may not be your typical Fallout game, but the heart of Fallout 76 still stays the same, whether it’s combat or story. You can expect there’ll be some pretty serious bugs, as is Bethesda tradition at this point, but a Fallout game that lets you play with friends sounds welcome indeed.
You can play Fallout 76 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on Nov. 14.

Battlefield V
Coming hot off the heels of Battlefield 1 in 2016, Battlefield V now takes players to the madness of World War II. Battlefield V promises to be another robust shooter experience, with a wealth of modes and options to choose from.
The War Stories featured in Battlefield 1 once again return with a variety of stories that take you across the battlefields of the Second World War, like Nordlys, which takes place in German-occupied Norway. Battlefield V will also feature new multiplayer modes including Grand Operations, which improves upon the previous Operations mode and focuses on massive-scale battles that take place across multiple rounds to simulate a military campaign. Combined Arms from Battlefield 3 also makes a return, allowing up to four players to work in co-op and take on missions with dynamic objectives.
Additionally, the game’s battle royale mode, Firestorm, will be launching in early 2019, and it’s apparently built around the series’ core pillar of destruction. With a wealth of post-launch content and plenty of single player and multiplayer modes, Battlefield V could end up being one of the best shooters of the year.
Battlefield V launches on Nov. 20 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Darksiders III
After six years since the last entry, fans will finally get to return to the world of Darksiders again. This time around Darksiders III has you taking control of Fury, the sister of War and Death, in her quest to destroy the Seven Deadly Sins. Enemy numbers have been reduced but the difficulty and strength of enemies have been greatly increased in Darksiders III. Defeating enemies will grant you souls which you can then, in turn, use to level Fury up.
Fury an use a variety of weapons like whips, flails, and daggers. She can also take on different elemental forms that grant her new weapons and traversal abilities, like the Flame form that lets her use her whip as a grappling hook to get over gaps. The world of Darksiders III is intended to feel more open and interconnected than previous installments, and there won’t be any gated combat encounters like before.
Although Darksiders III makes quite a few changes, it still seems to retain that core Darksiders flavor that fans enjoy. For action-adventure fans, this one is a must play.
Darksiders III arrives at the tail-end of the month on Nov. 27 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
