Superhero shows are a dime-a-dozen nowadays, with most of them centering around protagonists using enhanced skills like strength, speed, or intellect to defeat their enemies. But what if there was a series that delved into one of the lesser-explored – but still awesome – powers like invisibility?Â
That is exactly what Netflix’s newest original series, Zero, hopes to offer.
This Italian series tells the story of a teenage boy that has to learn how to use his powers, and love of manga and all things nerdy, to defend his neighborhood. It is a tale about growth and discovery, as he must also find out who he really is as a person alongside these brand new powers.
Here is to hoping that this is the first step in superhero shows exploring a wider range of powers and stories that are home to the medium.
Shadow and Bone – Release Date: April 23

Fantasy fans rejoice! Netflix is adapting yet another successful book series into its very own original television series, titled Shadow and Bones.
Shadow and Bones is based on the worldwide bestselling Grisha trilogy, placing fans in a war-torn world fueled by magic. The story follows Alina Starkov, a lowly soldier who finds out she has an extraordinary power that could help free her world from the Shadow Fold’s perpetual darkness.
She won’t be able to successfully do so on her own, though, so she enlists the help of a crew of charismatic criminals and a slew of other interesting characters.Â
Yasuke – Release Date: April 29
Netflix Shows Coming This April
Yasuke is one of Netflix’s most promising new anime, as its story, setting, and themes hope to have a huge impact on the medium as a whole. Plus, the plot centers around a fantastical reimagining of the first African samurai ever known.Â
In this anime, the world is a violent, mystical battlefield fueled by Japanese magic and large mechs. Our titular character, Yasuke, does his best to survive that chaos, using his skills with a sword to eventually carve out a life of solitude for himself.
That tranquility doesn’t last long, though, as he takes it upon himself to help transport a child that is being targeted by unknown evils. This situation requires Yasuke to rely on his old skills, slowly pulling him back into the world he tried to leave behind.
