Where to Find Beavers & Beaver Locations in Red Dead Redemption 2

Recommended Videos

There are 38 different species to track down in Red Dead Redemption 2, each providing different pelts to use for crafting, as well as sustenance to recover your health. Here’s where to find Beavers in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Each of the animal species in the game typically occupies their own specific areas of the map. As you would expect, Beavers are found near rivers and lakes. There are several hotspots where you can find them, spread across Ambarino, West Elizabeth, and New Hanover.

Note, our recommendation is to use the Varmint Rifle when hunting for these little critters, as it has a high degree of accuracy perfect for taking out smaller, fast-moving targets.

Beaver Locations

If you’re in the early portion of the game, look to the southern Lemoyne area, south of Saint Denis. Specifically, the various river inlets between Rhodes and Saint Denis, just off the northern shore of the Lannaheche River, in the eastern end of the area called Scarlett Meadows.

But once you’re freely exploring further afield, you can find Beaver nests along any major body of water in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Our personal favorite places to hunt Beavers are around the Kamassa River to the east of the map and the Beartooth and Upper Montana Rivers to the west. Look on your map for the area around the Elysian Pool in eastern New Hanover (it’s west of the Van Horn Trading Post).

Other locations:

  • Near the Lake Isabella area of western Ambarino, south of Spider Gorge
  • Central West Elizabeth off the Upper Montana River, south of Strawberry
  • Southern shores of Lake Owanjila

Legendary Beaver

For those on the trail of a legendary Beaver in Red Dead Redemption 2, you’ll want to head west of the Van Horn Trading Post, south of the Elysian pool on the Kamassa River. As a reference for the exact location, look at the map and head for the spot between the E and R of the “New Hanover.”

As a reward for bagging yourself a Legendary Beaver in Red Dead Redemption 2, you can take the Legendary Pelt to a Fence or a Trapper to be crafted into special gear. Remember to get a clean kill to obtain a perfect pelt.
