Don’t be fooled by the new Fallout 76 “Let’s Work with Others” multiplayer video. The new trailer, as beautifully stylized and incredibly detailed as it may be, shows players the many, grueling aspects of playing with others in its fully online environment and the various travesties that may come by traveling in a group.
Done in Fallout’s distinctive “old-timey” art style, this clever new trailer sees the precious Vault Boy mascot traveling around a desolate, battle-torn, radioactive American landscape. Though, the trailer does an excellent job of quickly displaying the troubles that come with attachment as Vault Boy’s newfound companion is quickly murdered by his own creation, showing the randomness factor and wacky occurrences that can and will happen while playing Fallout 76.
The informative film goes on to encourage players to “practice the art of non-verbal communication” in order to make new friends so that you may pillage, murder and survive together. This is likely a reference to not being able to voice-chat with players outside of you party, forcing you to act out your surrender and truce requests before being left in the wasteland to fend for yourself.
Though, the already dark video takes an even more desolate turn when Vault Boy’s party is murdered by a trap set up by other players. At this point, Vault Boy promptly shrugs off the minor inconvenience and loots their dead bodies before finding yet another group to join and go to war with. Murdering rival players, Vault Boy has clearly grown into a stronger, more independent player simply by working together with his band of misfit survivors.
Fallout 76 will release on Nov. 14 on PS4, Xbox One and PC with a special B.E.T.A scheduled for sometime in October.
