What You Need to Know About the Clinger in Fortnite Battle Royale

Fortnite’s latest update brought with it the usual bout of fixes and improvements, but it also introduced a self-service return system for skins and other cosmetic items, as well as the Clinger sticky grenade. While it sounds pretty self-explanatory, it’s always worth knowing everything there is to know about a new weapon in your arsenal before using it, so let’s run you through the ins and outs of the Clinger in Fortnite Battle Royale.

First off, these aren’t going to be too difficult to get. The Clinger is uncommon in rarity, and can be found in chests, Supply Llamas, Supply Drops, and just as random floor loot. Once you’ve got them, it’s all about knowing how they work, and how much damage they’re going to deal. We’ve broken this down for you below.

  • Damage to Players: 100
  • Damage to Structures: 200
  • Detonation Time (Once attached to target): 2.5 Seconds
  • Radius: 1 Tile

Outside of that, there are a few things you need to know about it. The Clinger will attach to any player or surface you throw it at in Fortnite Battle Royale. After 2.5 seconds from that point, it’ll explode and deal a fair amount of damage to whatever it was stuck to, and anything that was in a one tile radius. You’ll pick the Clinger up in stacks of 3, and you can stack up to 10 at any one time.

As awesome as it would be, no, the Clinger will not explode in mid-air, and cannot be shot in Fortnite Battle Royale. The only instance in which the sticky grenade will detonate sooner than the 2.5 seconds after being attached to a target is if the structure it is attached to is destroyed first.

That’s all you need to know about the Clinger in Fortnite Battle Royale. For more on the game, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki.
