How to Access the Map Editor in Far Cry 5

Recommended Videos

Much like its predecessors, Far Cry 5 is set in a huge open-world filled with gun wielding enemies, fearsome endemic wildlife and outposts to conquer. This time around the series comes to a fictional US town in Montana, ruled by a benevolent cult leader named Joseph Seed. There’s a militaristic group of his followers hellbent on killing you and taking over the county. There’s an updated map editor this time around, touted as Arcade Mode, which allows players to build their own custom levels, utilizing assets from other Ubisoft titles including Watch Dogs, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Assassin’s Creed: Unity, Far Cry: Primal and Far Cry 4.

There are three ways to access the Map Editor. Firstly, you can find one of the posters littered around the world which advertises Arcade Mode and allows you to load into it the best featured user-created maps. Secondly, you can head into the options menu and use R1/RB and L1/LB to navigate to the multiplayer section. Lastly, there are arcade cabinets located in bars around the game world which can be used to access Far Cry 5’s Arcade Mode. The Map Editor is tied to the game’s Arcade/PvP modes, and allows players to create maps for single-player, cooperative and multiplayer matches. Any experience points, perks, or money you earn while playing will cross over into the campaign when you’re done.

Far Cry 5 brings several systems from previous games into its world. There’s the Fangs for Hire system introduced in Far Cry: Primal which allows you to tame wildlife, and a Recruitment System based on the Buddy System from Far Cry 2, 3 and 4. The game will feature a new character creator, which the player can use to customize their character’s appearance. A fishing mechanic has also been introduced and a variety of fish can be caught.
