Weapon and Armor Icons – Horizon Zero Dawn

Recommended Videos

As you’re browsing through all of the different weapons and armor available to you in Horizon Zero Dawn, you may have noticed a ton of different icons. These are actually quite important regarding that particular weapon or armor’s stats. Unfortunately, the game doesn’t directly tell you what these weapon and armor icons mean. Don’t worry, though, we’ve got you covered.

Below is a complete list of all of the different weapon and armor icons in Horizon Zero Dawn and what they mean.

Hand: The hand icons will show next to all weapons and basically tell you the handling of each weapon. This translates to how quickly each weapon can aim and its reload speed.

Down-facing Arrow: This is the icon to tell you how much standard damage your weapons do.

Broken Shield: This tells you how much Tear damage a particular weapon does. This is important for removing armor and components from machines.

Flame: This icon indicates that the weapon can deal out flame damage, often with a particular type of ammo. If you see this next to armor, the number next to the icon indicates its resistance to fire damage. This will deal out damage over time.

Blue Star: The icon that kind of looks like a blue star is indicating the freeze damage that a weapon or type of ammo can deal. Just like the flame, this next to armor indicates its resistance to freeze damage. This will multiply any subsequent damage dealt.

Lightning Bolt: If you see this next to a weapon, it means it’s capable of dealing shock damage. Oftentimes, you’ll need a particular ammo type to deal this kind of damage. This will stun the enemy.

Swirl: This indicates that a weapon can deal Corruption damage, or that armor has some level of resistance to it. Corruption damage will make the target attack anyone.

Eye with a Line Through It: You’ll only ever see this icon when you’re checking out armor. This tells you that a piece of armor, or perhaps a modification you have equipped is granting you an increase to your Stealth stat. This can be particularly useful if you prefer to stay undetected and slowly take out enemies, rather than running in all-guns-blazing.

Target: Again, this icon is one you’ll only see when you’re checking out armor, or when you’re equipping modifications to them. This indicates that the armor has a resistance to ranged attacks.

Crossed Spears: An armor-only icon. This tells you that a modification or piece of armor will increase your resistance to melee attacks.

That’s all of the weapon and armor icons in Horizon Zero Dawn and what they mean. For more tips, tricks, and information on the game, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki guide.
