The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Passing the Time

Recommended Videos

The world of Hyrule in Breath of the Wild features a dynamic day and night cycle. Journeying is generally safer in the day, as you’re more likely to be ambushed by all sorts of creepy enemies and skeletons if you wander around too much at night. There might also be certain in-game events or quests that can only be accessed during the daytime. To make your life a little easier, the game does allow you to pass time so you can set about adventuring whenever you want.

First, you’ll need to find a campfire. Whether it was used by enemies or friendly allies, any campfire site will do. Move towards the campfire and press the A button to interact with it. The game will then ask you how long you wish to spend at the campfire. You can wait till morning or noon. However, do note that passing time at a campfire will not restore your health at all. You’ll still have to consume items in order to recover your empty hearts.

You can also rest in a bed to pass time as well. Beds can be found in towns at inns or stables, and also encountered randomly in cabins out in the wild. If you progress far enough in the story (and save up a lot of Rupees) you can even work to get your own bed. When you go to sleep in a bed you will be given the option to choose what time of day you want to wake up.
