Despite having a DLC release recently, the staff for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 are preparing for the fourth and final DLC, which should release this year. The teasers have already begun as Treyarch senior executive producer Jason Blundell was interviewed by GameSpot, where he talked about how this DLC would be the ending for the story that began in Call of Duty: World at War and how his team is going about working on the latest DLC.
“At the end of Black Ops 2, I think I enraged the community some when I put in this video that showed Samantha in a house with a boy called Edward,” said Blundell. “They were playing with zombie toys. Then an alarm goes off and you hear Max’s voice calling them down to the basement. The characters say, ‘I wish our heroes in our stories were real.’ Then we dropped to black. That was the end of Black Ops 2. People lost their s***.”
Blundell went on to talk about how he never answered the question of why Call of Duty: World at War ended that way and how this latest DLC will be the answer. He also mentioned how only his gameplay director, lead writer and himself know what’s going to happen.
“We have a level of paranoia which is probably unhealthy actually. There’s just so limited information that we share, either out on the floor or through Activision. We keep it quite tight-lipped. First of all, it’s crazy and we don’t want them to put us in insane asylums. But second of all, just to control the information about the kind of craziness that we do,” said Blundell.
There is no exact release date for when this DLC will come out but the next game in the Call of Duty franchise, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, is expected to be out this November.
