Today, Managing Director at Penny Black Studios, Tom Turner, took to the PlayStation blog to unveil PlayStation VR exclusive, How We Soar.

The small studio from the UK midlands designed How We Soar with a vision of taking “you to places you’ve never seen before and explore in ways not previously possible.” Of course, Turner is referring to the use of PlayStation VR as a tool to enhance the immersive experience.

How We Soar is essentially a VR flight experience that, as you may have guessed from the title of this post, allows you to ride a giant Phoenix through the skies of a mystical, fantasy world. Players will use the DualShock 4 to swoop, soar, and glide your way by the clouds.

Turner also commented on the different ways in which you can enjoy the experience on offer in How We Soar. “Your Phoenix can gain great speed as you fly, giving a thrilling VR experience as you rush past the environment. Or you can just take it easy, even slowing down to a hover, just so you can take in the scenery.” Turner and the rest of the development team hope you will take in the scenery, too, with How We Soar styling a unique papercraft visual effect. However, this papercraft art style is now just there for visual aesthetics.

As you enter each level in How We Soar, you’ll notice that it is shredded, torn and unfolded. By flying around and just simply seeing what the world has to offer, the environment will transform into recognizable environments, uncovering story secrets and making the game world more colorful and vibrant. You can check out the reveal trailer for the game below.

How We Soar is due to launch during Q4 of 2016 exclusively to PlayStation 4’s PSVR headset. Are you interested in picking it up? Let us know in the comments below.
