Hyper Light Drifter rewards players who thoroughly explore its world, however, some of its secrets need a little bit of extra help discovering. Here’s how to find the Secret Dash Room.

In the central hub world, you’ll find a little shop that has the Dash symbol on the sign. You’ll want to head in here and move into the large room to the right of where the NPC you can buy upgrades from stands. When you enter this large room you should notice a little counter appear at the bottom of your screen. This should give you an idea that there’s a special surprise waiting to be found if you meet a specific criteria.

All you have to do is successfully dash 100 times in this room consecutively (chain them together). Doing so 100 times will unlock you the first reward of the dash room, a Gear Bit. These are pretty handy for getting yourself some upgrades, so not such a bad reward for hitting a button 100 times or so.

That’s not the only secret in the dash room. If you continue to dash and rack up 800 consecutive dashes, you’ll open another little room which will contain a costume which improves your dash.

Now, there are three strategies to do this. First, you can use a controller and simply dash around the room in a circle as shown in the video below. Alternatively, you can use a mouse and keyboard, rather than a controller. Simply put your mouse cursor in the middle of one of the pads stretching out to the top and bottom of the room and dash 800 times back and forth over it. Some people on the Steam Community page for the game have also suggested following the beat of a metronome set to 240 bps to ensure you keep the right tempo.

The slightly cheating strategy is to use an auto-clicking program to press the dash button for you 800 times with a slight delay after each dash. It’s completely up to you which way you decide to acquire it, but the costume will certainly help you in the later stages of the game if you complete the challenge.

And there you have it. Have you got the dash costume in Hyper Light Drifter? Let us know in the comments below.
