Nvidia has released official info regarding what settings their graphics cards will be able to run The Witcher 3 on.
With the release of the highly anticipated Witcher 3 coming in only a few days, PC users around the world are stressing out wondering if their rig is strong enough for the open world RPG. The minimum and recommended settings for the game have already been revealed by the developer, but many PC users want to know just exactly how well their individual rigs will hold up. If you’re rocking an Nvidia GTX 960 or higher, you now know your limitations. You’re going to have to have a pretty beefy rig if you want to run everything at the highest possible settings.
The post from geforce.com goes on to clarify that these settings were reached with an “Intel i7-5960X, 16GB DDR4 RAM, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Game Ready GeForce GTX Driver.” Nvidia also clarified that the minimum FPS with these settings was 40 at the most demanding sections of the game.
The fact that Nvidia is releasing a day one driver is good news for users of their products, as it will provide more optimization and stability. Nvidia is also touting that a suite of proprietary graphics software — known as GameWorks — will be available for use with The Witcher 3. This will include Nvidia’s ambient occlusion known as HBAO+, and PhysX. Most notable though is HairWorks, which is a piece of tessellation software made to make hair physics look more detailed and natural.
AMD has yet to confirm if they will provide day one drivers for their users playing The Witcher 3.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt releases May 19th on PS4, Xbox One and, of course, PC.
