  1. Ink A Wall

    You’ll start by inking up a wall in your color ink.

  2. Swim Up Wall

    Once you’ve painted, swim up that ink so you are on the wall itself.

  3. Charge Up

    Press and hold B to charge up your surge. Note: You will see the eyes that indicate it’s charged.

  4. Squid Surge

    Once charged, release B and your character will Squid Surge to the top.

It’s not a hard technique to pull off and there are definitely some great uses that will allow you to surprise the enemy when they’re not looking. You should note that your character makes a bit more noise when charged up, so an enemy with a trained ear might expect your attack.

You can change your gear in Splatoon 3 and equip the Intensify Action ability to give your Squid Surge or Squid Roll a little bit more of a boost. When you Squid Surge, there is a point in the action where you are shiny and slightly invulnerable to attacks making it a great technique for a quick escape in a tricky situation.
