What Is Fortnite Parkour? Tactical Sprint, Climbing (Mantling) & Shoulder Bash Explained

Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 has well and truly shaken the foundations of Epic’s ever-popular Battle Royale game by temporarily disabling its building mechanic. To help remedy this, there are new movement mechanics and abilities available to players to help them get around the world that little bit easier. Especially, given many players would build their way up to rooftops and other vantage points. That’s where Fortnite’s Parkour mechanics come into play, such as Tactical Sprinting, Mantling and the Shoulder Bash.

Fortnite Parkour Explained

Fortnite Parkour is essentially the term for all of the new movement mechanics introduced in Season 3 Chapter 2. These can be broken down into Tactical Sprinting, Mantling (or climbing) and the new Shoulder Bash ability to charge your way through doors.

We’ve explained each of these in more detail below.

Tactical Sprint

The Tactical Sprint allows players to run quickly while they have stamina in the white bar shown in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen.

This allows players to jump higher and further, and is how you’ll trigger the Shoulder Bash, explained in more detail below.

We’ve a complete guide on using Tactical Sprint in Fortnite to help you get up to speed (sorry, not sorry about the pun).

Mantle/ Climbing

Arguably the main element of the Fortnite Parkour mechanics is the ability for players to now mantle and climb up to ledges just out of reach.

Players can now jump up and grab onto ledges and pull themselves up to reach new vantage points, replacing building while it’s temporarily disabled.

By running and jumping at a ledge, your character will automatically grab onto and climb up, making it really easy to traverse and jump from rooftop to rooftop.

Shoulder Bash

The Shoulder Bash is the final piece of the Fortnite Parkour puzzle, allowing players to charge through doors when they’re sprinting or sliding.

All you need to do is tactical sprint into a door, and your character will automatically shoulder bash their way through it. It’s certainly a lot quicker than having to interact with the door with X/ Square/ E/ Y.
