Battlefield 2042: How to Melee & Takedown

The Battlefield franchise is back with yet another entry this year, and this time we’re headed to the distant future to see what warfare could look like in the coming eras. Battlefield 2042 sees the return of the popular Conquest mode, as well as Breakthrough, and the survival-focused Hazard Zone mode. While there is no single-player campaign in this one, the game seems determined to make up for that with a decent selection of multiplayer modes. Here’s how to melee and takedown your enemies in Battlefield 2042.

Melee and Takedown in Battlefield 2042

While there are, of course, a ton of guns and exciting ranged weapons to make use of in Battlefield 2042, there will still be times where you might have to rely on hand-to-hand combat or melee weapons to deal with your foes. This is where the melee function comes in.

To perform a melee attack, you simply have to hit the R3 button by pushing in the right analog stick if you’re on console. And if you’re playing on PC, push the F key to melee.

Battlefield 2042 also allows you to perform takedowns to neutralize your opponent instantly. All you have to do is hold the R3 button or F key for a little longer, and you’ll be able to perform a takedown, which can be very handy if you find yourself in a situation where being stealthy would be more beneficial than going in guns blazing.

It’s best to keep in mind that you’ll always have melee options available to you, as that can be the wiser thing to do in certain situations.

That’s all you need to know about how to melee and takedown enemies in Battlefield 2042. Be sure to search for Twinfinite or check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
