How to Hunt an Infected Animal

First off, you’ll want to head to either Pleasant Park or Corny Complex. These named locations appear to be the best and most frequent places that infected animals spawn in Fortnite from our experience in a few games.

You’re then looking for any animal with a purple alien parasite attached to it. This can be anything from a chicken to a boar.

Once you spot one, simply deal damage with any of your weapons or harvesters. We’d advise using a ranged weapon, as infected animals move quickly and are incredibly hard to hit with your pickaxe.

When you’ve successfully killed the infected animal, if you move close to the alien parasite eggs that were hatched when you attacked it, the parasite will attach itself to you. For your troubles, you’ll be given 30,000 XP to help you level up your Battle Pass.

It’s worth noting that infected animals have a chance of spawning just about anywhere regular animals do on the map, so be sure to check out other places if you find both Pleasant Park and Corny Complex are particularly busy.

These are just the locations we’ve found to be particularly fruitful with infected animals. That being said, there’s no guarantee that infected animals will spawn in these locations.

An easy way to help with this challenge is to use the game’s accessibility settings to show any animals in your nearby vicinity with on-screen markers. This way you’ll be able to track down infected animals far easier, even when they’re on the move.

That’s everything you need to know on how to hunt an infected animal in Fortnite. For more tips, tricks and guides, head over to our wiki, search for Twinfinite, or check out more of our coverage on the game below.
