Back 4 Blood’s Latest Trailer Shows Off Its Card System

Back 4 Blood is just a month away, and zombie fans are eagerly awaiting the chance to get their hands on this multiplayer first-person shooter title. To help satiate player’s thirst for the game, Turtle Rock Studios released a brand new trailer earlier today that shows off the game’s unique card system.

In the trailer below, a narrator explains how the game implements a game director that works behind the scenes to make each run you take in Back 4 Blood feel distinct. One of the ways they’re able to do that is via the game’s new card system.

As you jump into a mission in Back 4 Blood, a set of corruption cards are dealt out that alter enemies and environmental conditions. This changes things like how powerful an enemy is and whether there is light in the area.

The director isn’t the only one with a deck of cards, though, as players also get to implement advantages via their own decks to offer the group important buffs and bonuses. You’ll have the option of going with default decks or customizing your own, unlocking new and helpful cards every time you play the game by completing challenges, objectives, and levels.

For more on the game, check out its official description:

Back 4 Blood is a thrilling cooperative first-person shooter from the creators of the critically acclaimed Left 4 Dead franchise. You are at the center of a war against the Ridden. These once-human hosts of a deadly parasite have turned into terrifying creatures bent on devouring what remains of civilization. With humanity’s extinction on the line, it’s up to you and your friends to take the fight to the enemy, eradicate the Ridden, and reclaim the world.

Back 4 Blood is set to release on Oct. 12 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
