Once you finally find Sadness on the second floor of the Niwa hotel in The Medium, Marianne will find herself outside of Thomas’ office. After investigating the clock and finding a small key on the broken desk, you’ll find that moving the hands of the clock actually changes the layout of the office in the spirit world, including revealing a secret room in the corner. The problem is, Marianne can’t get through to see what’s in there in the material world. In this guide, we’ll talk you through how to get into Thomas’ secret office room in The Medium.
How to Solve the Clock Puzzle in The Medium & Get Inside Thomas’ Secret Office Room
First things first, make sure that you’ve got access to moving the hands of the clock on the left-hand side of the office. To do so, you’ll need to find the key on the office desk in the center of the room, and then use this on the clock itself to open it up.
Turn the hands all the way back to the earliest they will go, by pressing right on the left analog stick.
This should cause a ball of spirit energy to appear by the office desk. Walk over to this and press A to absorb it.
Now go back to the clock and move the hands until you see the secret door in the upper left-hand corner of the room appear again. You’ll know its open when you see a bright light emanating out of it.
Press and hold B to have an ‘out of body experience,’ allowing you to control only Marianne in the spirit world, and head through the doorway.
On the back wall in Thomas’ secret office room in The Medium, you’ll find another junction box/ fuse box. Press and hold RT to charge up the spirit energy and release it to power up the box.
Press and hold B to regain control of Marianne in the material world, and inspect the cabinet containing the photo of the first secretary, where the secret office entrance was in the spirit world.
Look specifically at the photo of the first secretary and press and hold LB to use your ‘Intuition.’
This should reveal a hidden switch behind the photo, which you can now press A on your controller to move the picture out of the way and reveal.
Press A on the switch again to open the way to Thomas’ secret office room in The Medium.
Now you can see what was so important that he was hiding in there.
