Coming across a locked door in Hitman 3 can be frustrating as it often blocks the way to some of the coolest kills. While you can force your way in with a crowbar, it’s nice to get in quietly with a lockpick. So that you can stay hidden in every level, here’s everything you need to know about how to get lockpicks in Hitman 3.
If you carried over your Hitman 2 progress and unlocked lockpicks in that game originally, you’ll be able to use them right from the start in this new game.
How to Get Lockpicks in Hitman 3
If you’re new to the series with Hitman 3 though, you can thankfully unlock them without too much extra legwork. Lockpicks are a Mastery Level reward from the game’s second level, Dartmoor.
What you need to do to get lockpicks in Hitman 3 is play the level, earn XP by completing challenges, and hit Mastery Level 2. That is when you will unlock the Lockpick Mk III to use in other missions.
To equip it, head to the Planning tab before starting a level, select the Gear tile where the Fiber Wire is by default, tab over to Tools, and select the Lockpick you’ve just unlocked. Then, when you select Play to jump into the location, Agent 47 will start with a lockpick in his inventory.
When you come across a locked door, you’ll be prompted to use the lockpick and will need to hold triangle if you’re on PlayStation or Y on Xbox. It’s worth noting, though, that lockpicks won’t work on doors that are electronically locked and need keycards to enter.
