Opening Golden Safes in Yakuza Like a Dragon

To open Golden Safes in Yakuza like a dragon, you’ll need to jump through a few hoops.

First, you’ll need to have reached the point in the game where you can change your characters’ jobs at Hello Work. This occurs about a third of the way through the game, and is unmissable due to it being part of the main story.

Proceed through the main game until you reach this point. Once the option is available to you, you’ll then need to switch Kasuga’s job to Foreman. This will grant you the environmental ability Demolition, which allows you to destroy metal and wooden barriers blocking off portions of dungeons and hidden shops.

The ability stays unlocked even if you switch back to your job of choice too, so you don’t have to worry about keeping Kasuga in the Foreman job for the rest of Yakuza Like a Dragon’s runtime.

Switch Kasuga’s job to Foreman, and once the game notifies you that you’ve unlocked the Demolition ability, head to the lower-left corner of the map. We’ve included a screenshot down below to show you exactly where to go.

Once there, look for a doorway walled off with light-brown planks of wood. As you get close to it, a yellow circle will appear on the wood. You’ll then be prompted to demolish it by pressing the Square button on PlayStation consoles or the X Button on Xbox Consoles. Press the necessary button, and you’ll destroy the barrier, revealing a hidden merchant inside.

Speak to her to open up her inventory and you’ll find Golden Safe Keys available for ¥10,000 apiece. Once purchased, you can then use said keys to unlock any of the Golden Safes scattered throughout the game.

Do You Need Multiple Golden Safe Keys?

It’s worth noting, though, that unlike the Silver Safe Key, Golden Safe Keys are only good for one use each in Yakuza Like a Dragon.

This means that if you can only afford one or two keys when you find the Secret shop, you’ll only be able to unlock two Golden Safes that you come across.

As such, it’s recommended to grind up some money to purchase around 20 Golden Safe Keys as soon as possible. This will ensure you don’t leave any Golden Safes unopened in dungeons and the like, and can take advantage of the loot they contain as soon as possible.

We also have a guide on how to get Yen fast to assist in this endeavor.
