While the regular enemies aren’t exactly much of a threat in this game, or in any musou-style game really, it’s still useful to know how to block attacks especially as you start coming up against tougher bosses or even captains as you’re making your way through the story.

Blocking attacks will allow you to mitigate all damage with just a press of a button, but you do have to be careful with how you do it.

To block enemy attacks, all you have to do is press and hold the ZL button. All characters will be able to do this, not just Link, so whenever you’re in danger and won’t be able to dodge out of the way in time, simply hold down the ZL button to mitigate all incoming damage.

This can be very useful against fast enemies, or new enemy types that you’re not too sure how to dodge and evade around.

It’s useful for learning enemy patterns as well, and once you’ve got them down to a science, you’ll be able to start evading their attacks and deal with them more effectively.

You do have to be careful with blocking, though, as it won’t protect you forever. Enemies will be able to break your guard eventually and leave you completely vulnerable to attack, so make sure to let go of the button and keep moving around once you know you’re safe.

That’s all you need to know about how to block attacks in Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity. Be sure to search for Twinfinite for more tips and information on the game.
