Pikmin 3 Deluxe is now here on the Nintendo Switch, and you’ll control a couple of explorers as they find fruit for their planet back home. And to protect yourself, you will need to control a squad of Pikmin –the bigger, the better. Here’s how to get more Pikmin in Pikmin 3 Deluxe so that you can amass an army and pick up heavy items.
How to Get More Pikmin in Pikmin 3 Deluxe
In order to get more of these little creatures to join your ranks, you will need to bring back some items to your onion-looking ship/Pikmin base.
If you look in the image down below, you’ll see some plants that have numbers on them. The numbers specify how many Pikmin are needed to carry it.
You can throw your Pikmin directly at it by locking on with the ZR button and then throwing the Pikmin with the A button.
Now your Pikmin will carry the little red pellets back to the onion, and once it reaches the ship, you’ll obtain two new Pikmin that you’ll need to pluck out of the ground, like any other plant. It’s worth noting that pellets retrieved by Pikmin of the same color produce more sprouts and your max limit is 100.
If you go over 100 Pikmin, the rest will be stored in the onion for safekeeping.
Make sure that your Pikmin has a safe path back to the ship. They can easily get eaten by a Bulborb or something.
Just press the A button one time to begin the plucking process. Your character will continue to pull all of the Pikmin out of the ground until you hit the B button or until there’s no Pikmin left to pull (trying saying that five times fast).
Now that you have “grown” more Pikmin, your Pikmin field count will increase, which is on the bottom-right corner of the screen. The squad count on the left of that number is the total number of Pikmin currently following you.
So if you don’t know why your field number is higher than your squad number, it’s probably because some of your Pikmin are stuck somewhere and can’t get to you or because you have Pikmin ready to pull out of the ground under the onion.
You can also defeat enemies and bring their carcass back to the base to get even more Pikmin to join your squad. While it sounds disgusting and inhumane, some of these big baddies can net your tons of Pikmin fast and easy. Just be careful out there on planet PNF-404.
