How to Unlock Thanatos in Hades

Thanatos is one of the NPCs you can encounter in Hades, but his appearance is completely random. He has a chance of appearing at the beginning of a chamber to challenge Zagreus and see who can kill more enemies before time runs out. If you manage to beat him, he’ll reward you with a Centaur Heart, and you’ll still get whatever reward was in that chamber before he showed up.

After an encounter with Thanatos, there’s a very high chance that he’ll show up back at the house when you return there. This isn’t guaranteed, though, and you might have to encounter him again to get him to spawn.

Whenever you meet him, you’ll be able to give him Nectar like any other NPC in the game and get the Pierced Butterfly Keepsake from him. In addition to that, he’s also available as a romance option.

Romance

After giving him a few jars of Nectar, you’ll unlock a new scene between Thanatos and Zagreus. If you’re able to escape the Underworld without any help from Thanatos, you’ll then be able to progress your relationship with him even further when you meet him again.

When you see him again, you’ll be able to start giving him Ambrosia to continue raising your affinity, and Zagreus will eventually be able to romance him.

That’s all you need to know about how to unlock and romance Thanatos in Hades. Be sure to search for Twinfinite for more tips and information on the game.
