Cyclommatus Stag Seasonality & Spawn Times
The Cyclommatus Stag can only be caught during the following months in each hemisphere:
- Northern Hemisphere: July – August
- Southern Hemisphere: January – February
During these months, the Cyclommatus Stag will only spawn between the hours of 5pm and 8am, meaning you will need to be ready for some evening or late night hunting to find this beetle.
Catching the Cyclommatus Stag in Animal Crossing New Horizons
In order to catch a Cyclommatus Stag you will need to equip your trusty net and approach slowly while holding down the A button.
Since these beetles can only be found on palm trees, you will need to scope out the areas on your island that have them growing—generally on your beaches.
Once you have found one of this rare bugs, you will need to properly judge the distance from yourself to the tree. Getting too close will cause the beetle to fly away, but staying too far away will keep your net from hitting properly, so some trial and error may be in your future testing these limits.
As the Cyclommatus Stag is so rare, the distance you can move towards them is trickier, plus they act similarly to the Tarantula where movement triggers them so taking your time while approaching is crucial.
Once you have the hang of it, simply releasing the A button will allow your net to scoop up one of these flighty beetles.

The Cyclommatus Stag can be sold for 8,000 Bells at Nook’s Cranny. If Flick happens to be in your town then you can sell these bugs to him for a whopping 12,000 Bells.
