We get to take a look at absolutely gorgeous gameplay starting with exploration and including combat, customization, and special modes.

While exploring the game we can call a gust of wind to guide us to our destination. There are also additional visual cues to clue us into interesting locations we may not know about.

For instance, finding dilapidated ruins may lead to the discovery of rare resources. We can also honor shrines to earn items, and fast travel to landmarks that we have already visited.

Combat looks fantastic and extremely cinematic, as we would expect from samurai movies. Of course stealth also plays a relevant role.

You can decide to face your enemies as a samurai, face to face, or as aghost, using every trick in the book to even the odds.

We then get to take a look at customization as we can change armor and unlock new techniques to turn into the ghost. We can even dye equipment in different colors.

Photo mode is also in with plenty of features, alongside a Japanese voice track that you can select right from the beginning.

There is even a “Samurai Cinema” mode to reproduce the windy and grayed-out mood of classic Japanese movies.

You can watch it below as soon as it starts in a few minutes.

If you’re unfamiliar with the game, here’s how Sony describes it.

“In the late 13th century, the Mongol empire has laid waste to entire nations along their campaign to conquer the East. Tsushima Island is all that stands between mainland Japan and a massive Mongol invasion fleet led by the ruthless and cunning general, Khotun Khan.

As the island burns in the wake of the first wave of the Mongol assault, samurai warrior Jin Sakai stands as one of the last surviving members of his clan. He is resolved to do whatever it takes, at any cost, to protect his people and reclaim his home. He must set aside the traditions that have shaped him as a warrior to forge a new path, the path of the Ghost, and wage an unconventional war for the freedom of Tsushima. “

Ghost of Tsushima is currently in development at Sucker Punch Productions, which is mainly known for the inFAMOUS series. It has recently been slightly delayed to a scheduled release on July 17, 2020.

The game was originally announced in 2017 at Paris Games Week and if you want to see more, you can enjoy the latest trailer and an earlier video.

You can also take a look at the theme that will be included in the special editions of the game, and it’s a really stylish one.
